In the spirit of E. Lynn Harris, James Baldwin, Langston Hughes and Alice Walker, African Voices presents an exciting workshop for LGBT writers who want to continue the tradition of offering books about the LGBT experience.
How To Write Successful LGBT books will cover the secrets to writing and selling a LGBT book in the general market. This workshop will look at past and current best selling LGBT authors and how they got there. Workshop open to all writers, no prior workshop experience needed.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
The workshop will be lead by New York Times best selling author JL King. Mr. King has written and published 18 books including On the Down Low: A Journey into the Lives of Straight Black Men Who Sleep with Men and The Ex-Factor: Finding Freedom to Heal, Forgive & Love Again, co-written with his ex-wife Brenda Stone Browder. He also is an award winning author, publisher, educator, screenwriter, producer and entrepreneur. He recently moved to Brooklyn from Atlanta, GA.

This workshop will focus on the physical, emotional, sensual, and literary techniques that help refine the definition of erotica as the “personification of love in all its aspects.”
