Dem Moon Girls by Rabih Ahmed
Dem Moon Girls
dem moon girls know of high tides
beating against tower walls whose
emotions swing in the dark of night
echoing the pain of their
foremothers of afternoons on the
porch praying on a miracle wishes
in the wind for the almighty to
floor the streets with retribution but
they keep building high rises with
high fences releasing ivory-colored
gas flowing into the lungs of dem
moon girls and their foremothers
praying on a miracle at the dark of
every single night
