AV Spring/Summer 2025
African Voices' digital issue honors author/filmmaker and community leader Maitefa Angaza whose work helped shape our magazine and Reel Sisters. Our loving tribute includes excerpts from her book "Kwanzaa: From Holiday to Every Day" and her short story, "A Simple Solution." Renowned artist and friend, Jimmy James Greeneoffers a personal reflection in designing our front cover portrait. Artists Derick Cross and Sana Bracey share their artistic tributes to Maitefa. Her husband, Will (Menshemsaqazz) offers a deeply personal dedication to the timeless love they shared.
Our Spring/Summer 2025 issue is filled with poetry and short fiction by dynamic storytellers whose works cover a range of subjects from classism, love, loss, joy and our relentless pursuit of justice in a corrupt system. Poets featured in the issue include Halle Hazzard, Joesph Patri Brown and Amber Atiya. Short story writers showcased in the issue are Rashaun Allen ("A Game of Spades"), Jeanine DeHoney ("Threads of Unspoken Truths"), Clarissa ("Bontua") and Halle Hazzard ("Home - Excerpt").
